 THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD

The San Marin High School Music Department, well-known for bringing high caliber musical theater productions to Novato, is presenting its fall musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood.  Winner of 5 Tony awards, this musical by Rupert Holmes is a hilarious whodunit with a unique twist - the audience gets to choose the ending.

The musical is a "play within a play" and centers around the story of crazy choirmaster John Jasper, who falls madly in love with his music student, the fair Miss Rosa Bud.  She, of course, is already engaged to Jasper's nephew, young Edwin Drood.  The plot thickens when Edwin disappears one stormy evening.

San Marin is pleased to have again Pat Nims as director.  Assisting him is Samantha Maas-Baldwin, conductor; Kate Kenyon, choreographer; and Emily Gates, musical director.  This production has a cast and crew of over 64 students.

The play will run Thursday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m., October 23 and 24 at 8:00 p.m., and October 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Emily Gates theater on the San Marin campus.  Tickets are $8.00 in advance and $10 when purchased at the door; however, advance purchase is recommended - San Marin shows commonly sell out.  Tickets can be purchased at the SMHS front office or from any San Marin music student.   For further information/details regarding this press release, contact Emily Gates - 892-3161.
