San Marin Robotics Club at NUSD Board Meeting

San Marin Robotics, Penguin Empire, Placed Second in FRC, UC Davis Regional Event.


February, 28, 2008 -

San Marin Robotics Club Penguin Empire Team completed their first ever FRC  'Aurora' Robot build after many days of hardwork after school (thanks to Auto Shop for allowing us to use their shop and tools and for the practice field at the library during the break).  


The robot is being shipped today to be inspected and ready for the March 20 FRC comptition at UC Davis.  

The team also created a website and create a 3-D Animation for competition.

San Marin Robitics Club Semi-Finalist in the FTC Contest (photo and video below)

The following is excerpt from club advisor Mr. David Grenewetzki, 12/23/07. 

The great news is that we made it to the semi-finals of the FIRST Tech Challenge yesterday in Fremont.  I'm pretty sure that a good time was had by all as we fought (quite literally) and clawed our way through the qualifying founds, the quarter finals only to be stopped in the semis by the alliance that eventually won the whole thing.

It was a lot of fun and we learned some valuable lessons that will be important as we move forward to the FIRST Robotics Challenge that starts with the kickoff meeting on January 5th.

San Marin Robotics club will take part in the FIRST Tech Challenge, scheduled for December 22, 2007 in Fremont.  The students will compete against  more than 30 Bay Area high school teams. FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.

 
Programmer, mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, set designer, reporter, fundraiser, grant writer are all integal part of the team.  There are currently close to 20 students in the club, each brings different set of talent into the club.  Adult volunteers, mentors and donation to the club will enable them to enter into future competition. 
  
Come and check out the San Marin Robotics Club.  The club meets between 6 and 8 pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at  the Auto Shop.  During school days, the students meet at 12:15PM, Tuesdays in the new science room 206.
