Green School Week Huge Success

GREEN WEEK BIG SUCCESS AT SMHS!


To celebrate Earth Day and bring sustainable practices to our school, the Leadership class,College and Career Center and Counseling Department produced a week of educational events and activities. 

The nonprofit groups Next Generation and Youth Leadership Institute provided key coordination, resources and assistance.   

Some highlights of the week included: 

* Introduction to Sustainable Living and the Environment-  Grade Level Assemblies
* Classroom Presentations on Recycling
* “Green” Career Presentations by over 50 Local Professionals
* Expert Panels on Sustainable Food, Green Schools and The Economy
* Lunch Fair with Healthy Meals and Community Resources 

We got great feedback from our students and teachers about the variety of experiencesand information presented during the week, and many students stayed on campus for our lunch fair.
